一个迟了的中秋节post
It was the MOONCAKE FESTIVAL last SAT, 3.10.2009.
I went back to my father's village to do some prayers for my ancestors.
I told my mother that one of my friend in my school asked me that am I going to anywhere to have dinner with my family. I also asked her why are we going back to do prayers for our ancestors.
My mom said this to me : “ 要是没有了祖先,就不会有我们。所以我们要饮水思源，必定要在每个节日回乡拜祭祖先，来纪念他们，回报他们。。。” AND BLAHBLAHBLAH.
ALAMAK... ASK ONE QUESTION ALSO KENA THOSE BLAHBLAHBLAH.
SUAN LIAO, AS LONG AS I HAD KNEW THE AIM THAT WHY ARE WE GOING BACK.
FELT A LITTLE ENVY WITH MY RELATIVES THAT COULD GO BACK TO MY MOTHER'S VILLAGE ON THAT DAY. IT'LL BE MORE FUN, I THINK.
THE DAY WE WENT BACK TO MY FATHER'S VILLAGE(friday night) MY FATHER AND MOTHER STARTED TO PREPARE THE THINGS THAT WE NEED FOR NEXT DAY's PRAYER CEREMONY. I HAD HELPED THEM A BIT. FINALLY, MY MOTHER FINISHED THE WORKS IN THE MIDNIGHT.
~next morning~~
I WAS THE ONE TO BE THE LAST TO WAKE UP. (at 9 something in the morning?!)
THE PRAYER THINGS ARE GETTING DONE.
JUST LEFT SOME OF THE FOOD OF THE PRAYER HAVEN'T DONE YET.
WE FINISHED THE PRAYER in about 1hr.
Then, we received my cousin sister's invitation to have a dinner in her house later.
IT'LL BE A HOT POT DINNER, MY MOM TOLD ME.

~THAT DAY NIGHT~~
We went there and ate continuosly, and I played some candles with my nieces and nephew. They played lanterns as well, too. Some of them played with fire, too. My brother did that also. ...
I should admit that the Mooncake festival mood in the village is way too good than the city!!!
But, my father n mother 感慨that, the era had changed now.
BECOZ: --- we saw that some family let their kakak to hold the lanterns and lead along their children behind them, while the mothers/fathers chat togetther in front there.
Some of the children just let their father hold some lanterns, but they didn't hold any1 of it. The way of the fathers to hold the lanterns r quite creative, too.
Some used a broom stick to hang 2 lanterns at each end. Some hung 2 lanterns at each end, plus 2 hangers (来挂衣服的衣挂）, to hang two more lanterns.
there was a balloon with lantern competition. It was like the picture below, ( I think):
they compete to see that whose balloon latern would float the highest in the air. waliao, some of the balloons even hung 8 lanterns !!!!
